February 14th

I love Valentines Day for two reasons.  First, I get to focus on the people I love.  Second, the amount of whipped cream I consume without guilt. I try to include it in every meal.  Breakfast: chocolate chip pancakes with whipping cream.  Dinner: Pork Marsala (with cream in the sauce). Dessert: Chocolate mousse and whipping cream.

To start the holiday, Landon and I had a fantastic valentines date on Saturday night.  Have I mentioned that living in this neighborhood sometimes makes me feel like I went back in time? I think it is the  kindly neighbors and the lack of master bathrooms that contributes. Anyway, Saturday night was another time-machine moment.  Our stake did an adult Valentines dance and there was a LIVE big band from the neighborhood.  And it was large.  And really good.  And had live singers.  So we spent the whole night dancing to big band music with all our friends as if it were 1950 (except that none of us could really dance).  Such a great night.

Yesterday we had the our traditional breakfast. Aiden announced that I was the best mom in the world and this was the best valentines day in the world.  I should have enjoyed it while it lasted, because later in the day he claimed that I had ruined his valentines day after I made him clean up his valentine mess from school after Norah got into it and ate every sucker.

This little stinker refused the chocolate chip pancakes in favor of nasty chalk hearts.
 Feel the love.
She STILL can't believe that she gets candy for breakfast.

Aiden made these valentines for his class and then came home and reveled in his loot while his sisters looked on all the candy wistfully.

And here's the crew.  Yep, best picture we got.  But do you see why I get asked three times a week if Aiden and Annie are twins?

That night I fed the kids dinner early, turned on a movie, then Landon and I enjoyed a candle-lit dinner.  After the kids were tucked safely in bed and dishes were done we watched Moneyball and-the most romantic of all- the latest episode of The Bachelor.

Fantastic! I think I feel more love from Annie than from Aiden in those pictures. Norah is gorgeous! Her eyes are beautiful! I am sure you get that 3 times a week, too. What a wonderful day!

I had no idea Annie was so tall! Poor Aiden. I love Norah's face.

This post, combined with our conversation this morning made me miss your kids! That face of Norah's is hilarious.
