As usual, the kids were a filthy dirty mess most of the time and I realized that I'm someone that loves camping because of the dirt, not in spite of it. There is something so relaxing about not worrying about the cleanliness of your kids. And they have a much better time when I'm not nagging them to stay clean. Besides, there is very little that a warm rag at bedtime can't fix.
Friday morning campfire
This is Annie telling me, "I do NOT like you taking pictures!" And then she ditched me. Whatever, I'm trying not to be offended.
This is how Norah spent a lot of her time.
And what is camping without some Eggs in a Frame.
This is what I did most of the time. I read and ate licorice. A lot of delicious licorice.
Hike #1: White Pine Trail. The first mile of White Pine anyway.
Stopping for lunch. This is classic Norah. "No way are you getting my sandwich!"
The ole' put your camera on the ground family photo.
And a relaxing stop at the river made the perfect ending.
More classic Norah.
Annie gave herself a little head dip.
Hike #2: Cecret Lake. The flowers were amazing. And the mosquitoes were abundant. We barely stopped to take in the view from the top. There was a pretty good chance that we would have been eaten alive.
We did get one picture from the top. And it turns out that it is one of my favorite pictures of my kids. I love it.

Man! Utah mountains are so pretty! I am so jealous, that looked so fun! You got some great pictures of Annie, even though she didn't want them. I wonder if we ever said that to Dad when we were younger. And I hope you notice I am commenting :) And I will say it again, Norah is so cute! Oh one more thing, tell Landon I want to steal his sweatshirt back.
GORGEOUS! I miss camping so much, and this looks like the perfect trip. I really think that Annie is growing into a beautiful little girl. Thanks for the wonderful pictures!
Hey. We did the same thing last week. We went up Big Cottonwood and camped at the Spruces. Your hiking looks more successful than ours. We tried to see how far we could go to Lake Blanche and did not make it. It was fun to be up there though. We need to get up to Cecret Lake, now is when the flowers are Beee-autiful. Glad you had fun.
No way. We were planning on going to Spruces and drove up Big Cottonwood, but then decided that there wasn't enough shoulder for me to run on, so we headed to Little Cottonwood. That would have been funny to end up camping next to each other.
Ohhhh, how beautiful! Spectacular views. And the kids aren't hard to look at either. The picture of Annie in the flowers... WOW. Gorgeous girl. And I love the picture of all 3 kids. Looks like a perfect little trip. We'll have to bring our gear next time we head up your way.
I"m so jealous. If we went camping here we'd be roasted... well, steamed would be a more accurate description. We have to wait until fall before we can go, and even then the mountains are 3 hours away. *sigh* Anyway, I'm extremely impressed with the family photo. What are the chances of getting one with all the faces facing the camera. Wow.
